I just love to give left over wood a new life.
This bowl is made of Corylus avellana Contorta (Red Majestic), my favorite kind of wood. It always gives me so many ideas just from looking at it before it even meets the lathe. A complete piece of wood is normally one with both bark and cracks, inside and outside. It feels like nature is giving me the finished piece.I rarely make more than one of a kind. Pieces never look alike, when you use the wood I use. They are all unique.
By using old wooden furniture, dead trees and garden cut off's I use the material given to me from our planet. The only world we have and will ever have. We need the forest to clean the air and make oxygen so we can breath. We need to stop harvest the forest's on our planet Earth as if we were the last people here and start thinking about the day after tomorrow.After the trees has been felled, we can either burn it or we can make beautiful things out of it. There are lots of things that we should appreciate more in life.I am not a saint and I can't walk on water. I'm just writing, what's on my mind.
